Durian Festival sa Tagum City

OK, this isn’t on or about Samal Island, at least not directly. But it is something I’d like to attend someday when we do live on Samal. Maybe I’ll get a chance to go to the festival sometime prior to us living in the area, but the timing of it makes it seem unlikely.
The Durian Fesitval in Tagum City runs from about the beginning of September until October, with the first week holding the bulk of the special events.
The events feature a number of various Durian competitions including:
- Best Durian Fruit Competition
- Cocktail & Mocktail Competition
- Restaurant Complete Services Competition
- Durian Pie & Kakanin Competitions Trade Center
(High School & College) - Durian Filled Bread And Plated Competitions Trade Center
(High School & College) - Durian Cake & Roulade Competitions Trade Center
(High School & College) - Main Dish Competition
- Vegetable Salad Competition
- Food Carving Competition (High School & College)
- Durian Crepes Competition (High School & College)
Other activities include nightly entertainment, lectures and demos, a parade and of course awards for all those competitions. Sounds like a lot of fun for the Durian enthusiast!
