Extreme Samal Closed?
A fair amount of the search traffic I get here is for the Samal Zipline. Kind of surprising because I only did one article on the Samal Island attraction. Since writing that article the Extreme Samal website has gone down, only reaching a generic Tripod page. All other mention of the zipline has also been removed from the parent site.
I recently received an email that mentioned they had heard Extreme Samal Zipline was under renovation. Even though I tried to contact the owner of the zipline, I’ve not been able to confirm whether that’s the situation or not. It seems likely, but it’s kind of hard to ascertain that from here, especially if the owner won’t respond. If any of the locals there can confirm one way or the other, please let me know so I can update the information.

Hi Randy, shucks! This was one place my sister in law wants to try. We planned one sunday trip for this which didn’t happen last week and I was hoping for this sunday. Hmmm, maybe we have to go to Davao now. I asked her if she could bike over one day to find out. Will let you know. She did say she hasn’t seen the sign you have in the picture.
Hi Ellen – I thought there was a chance your sister in law would know, since you mentioned she had been exploring all over the island. I hope for your sake it is not closed, and you get a chance to try it out.
If she does get by there, let me know what she finds out.
Hi Mr. Randy, Extreme Samal was temporarily closed because of some requirements from the city govt of IGACOS but it was just some necessary reqts to comply by the operator. I learned that when I talked to one of its operators (the rappel operator). He asked for my sister’s help in setting up his tour guiding services website. The pics I posted on my blog about Samal was used in the website. But extreme Samal is still operating on a reservation basis.
Hi Nadel – thanks for the update on Extreme Samal. Not sure why the owner wouldn’t answer the email and took down the information on his site with regards to the zipline. I think it would be wise for anyone wanting to go, to give a call first and see what’s up.
I think the American operator (the one in charge of the zip line) has stopped doing the business. The one I talked to was the Filipino operator (rappel in charge). He was the one who set up a new website for Samal packages. These include the Extreme Samal activities
Hi Nadel – thanks for the update. You’ll have to give us a report when/if you visit there.
Can the zipline be done by itself, or is it only part of packages?
Hi Randy!
My friends and I are planning a trip to Samal on May 8 to experience the zipline adventure. Have you heard any updates about this? There are no particular sites that have a direct number where i can call to inquire if it is still in operation or not. Any suggestions?
Hi Karina – I can’t get a straight answer on whether it is open or closed. You might try:
John Ballard (the original owner): 091593730590
or
Samal Adventure Tours: (082) 222-4848
one of those should be able to help, if you can get ahold of them.
Good luck and please let me know what you find out.
i just called SAMAL ADVENTURE TOURS.. confirmed, it is temporarily closed….
sayang!
Hi dhang amerrhan – thanks for the confirmation. I hope that information helps all those that have been inquiring.
hi randy,
we just came home from the U.S and want to try adventure while we are here

Hi Jenny – I’ve never heard whether the zipline got back up and running. I would suggest contacting Samal Adventure Tours.
Another good bet for adventure is The Adventure Island, which is located at the Dayang Beach Resort in Talikud Island. I have an article about that, just do a search.
ok thank you very much randal
WHATS THE OTHER ADVENTURE HERE?
JUST WANT TO INQUIRE:
JEN
Hi Jenny – I recently wrote an article on Kalinawan Resort, which has a zipline and a number of other activities. The article is still on the front page as of today.
There is also Adventure Island at Dayang Beach Resort in Talikud Island.
