Davao Serves Up Microbrews
2009 February 10

Loving your San Mig, but looking for a change up now and then? You’re in luck, Davao now has it’s very own specialty beer shop, 147 Beer Avenue.
While much of their business is in distribution to local restobars, they have a nice selection of microbrews from the US to sample at their store. Located at Paseo Legaspi, they are just behind Tata Benito’s A Whole Latte Love. Beer distribution began in November 2008, but the shop has just recently opened.
Current imported selections from the US include:
- Ballast Point Brewing Company of San Diego, California - Yellowtail Pale Ale, Calico Amber Ale and Big Eye India Pale Ale
- Rogue of Ashland, Oregon - Americal Amber Ale, Dead Guy Ale and Mocha Porter
- Flying Dog of Denver, Colorado - Flying Dog Doggie-Style Classie Pale Ale, In-Heat Wheat Hefeweizen, Old Scratch Amber Lager, and Snake Dog
- Gordon Biersch of San Jose, California - Marzen, Hefeweizen, Blonde Bock and Dunkelweizen
If a restobar is more your style you can enjoy some of these brews at:
- Spirale Ristorante
- Cups and Lower Cases
- Mamu’s Bar
- Karl’s Koffee Korner at Jetti, Avenue S, and Rancho Palos Verdes

Cool, this is very interesting! I would love to pay a visit soon. Any recommendations?
Hi Mindanaoan – I’m afraid I’m not a big beer drinker. I have one once in awhile. When I do, I like a dark beer like Guinness. I believe my brother, who does drink a more often, is fond of Rogue. Dead Guy Ale is pretty popular from what I understand.
If you go, let us know what you think, both of the shop and the beer.
