Hagimit Falls
A wonderful little off-the-beaten-path retreat on Samal Island. The falls is located in the Samal District, about 2km outside of Penaplata, which would be southeast from our land on Limao.
There are at least five cataracts and the same number of natural swimming pools. It’s estimated that only about 150-200 people visit the park during the week, so it is fairly secluded. There is a 5 peso entry fee to get into the park.
Not necessarily a destination in and of itself, but another nice spot to visit if you are spending some time on Samal.

i remember taking a trek up there with 2 high school buddies in the early 90s.
Just the fact that it's there, so close to Davao & yet nobody really knows about it, gives it a bit of allure.
A nice place to lie on your back by rushing water with a drink in hand.
good times.
Hi Macky – I’ve not made it there myself, yet. Next trip for sure. It’s only about 3 miles from our property, so it’s a place I see myself visiting often.
With all the developments going on in Samal, I doubt it’s going to stay so peaceful. Such is the way things go.
I’ve seen this picture before and it looks so nice – kind of remind me of some places I’ve been to in Vancouver Island. Wonder if there are lots of mosquitoes there
, but I would like to visit this place one day…
Hi Ellen – I hope you get a chance to visit there soon and let us know what you think. It really is a beautiful looking place.
I don’t know if the mosquitoes stand a chance on the island, with all the bats they have there
Hope to visit Hagimit Falls this December. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Lance – I hope you enjoy it and your time on Samal.
I really hope I can make it there this year, too. We shall see.
