iPhone3G
In case you missed it (seriously?), the iPhone got an upgrade on Monday. The long rumored 3G version will be available July 11th in the States and 21 other countries. The Philippines will receive it at a later date.
Obviously the addition of 3G capabilities is the big news, but there are some other nice enhancements, such as GPS. The thing I’m waiting for though is version 2.0 of the software, which will allow third party apps. Fortunately that will work with the first version of the iPhone, which is what I have. That should be available about the same time as the 3G iPhone and I’m sure they will ship with it.
It’s tempting to upgrade to the 3G, but since my phone is provided by my employer I don’t feel I can justify the extra $10 or so for the new data plan. The 3G phone is priced right, and I’d consider paying for it myself, but the extra speed isn’t critical as I use it on wifi as often as not. Maybe if enough people switch, Edge will pick up a little. Wishful thinking.
