Honda Ruckus
2008 June 4
As anyone that has gone through the drill knows, the cost of a vehicle, even used, and the insurance for a new driver makes it difficult for a young driver to get started. With the rising cost of gas and my son turning 15 next year, we’ve been looking at ways that he can drive, and afford to.
Scooters are somewhat affordable, definitely fuel efficient and the insurance is much more reasonable than for a car. They are not considered very “manly”, at least in some circles. That’s where the Honda Ruckus comes in to play. Having a small engine, 49 cc, it’s very much a small scooter BUT it looks “tough” enough for a young guy to ride and not be self conscious. They can also be customized pretty easily to fit your individual style.
I’ve been looking at these and thinking this would be a great little vehicle to use to get around the island. I’d still want a small car or truck, but this could suffice fairly nicely (and fun to boot) as a cheap way to run to the store or beach or where ever. The tires are wider than a regular scooter’s, and should fare pretty well on the back roads near our property.
I’ve done some searching, and I can’t find if these are currently sold in the Philippines. I’ll have to check into that the next time I visit.
